Researchers study NAC as a glutathione precursor. In a 30-day trial involving 36 adults, favourable changes mainly occurred in participants with low initial glutathione levels. Biological context helps explain the response observed.

The trial used 2,400 mg/day, compared with this product’s 600 mg daily serving. It does not demonstrate a performance benefit at this dose. NAC is not fully converted into glutathione.
