The scientific context

Oral glutathione, studied over time.

A six-month controlled trial in 54 adults observed an increase in blood glutathione with daily intakes of 250 or 1,000 mg. Such measurements help researchers study glutathione levels in different compartments of the body.

The trial used another formulation and other doses. A four-week trial found no significant effect. The findings do not predict an individual benefit from the finished Hexagon® 300 mg product.

NAC and glutathione: two different approaches.

Both products relate to glutathione, but they provide different substances. Understanding that difference is more useful than comparing milligram amounts alone.

NAC · 600 mg per capsule

A derivative of cysteine. The body uses cysteine, together with glycine and glutamate, to synthesise glutathione.

Reduced glutathione · 300 mg per capsule

The GSH form of glutathione is present in the formula. It is different from NAC, which is a precursor.

600 mg NAC does not correspond to 600 mg of glutathione produced. These amounts do not establish equivalent effectiveness or the superiority of either product.
